Privacy notice

How nazlialimen.com collects and uses personal information.

1. Who I am and how to contact me

This notice explains how personal information is collected and used through nazlialimen.com.

This website is operated by Dr Nazlı Alimen. I am the controller of the personal information described in this notice.

For any privacy question or request, email me at nazlialimen@gmail.com.

2. What information is collected

When you use the contact form, I receive:

  • your first name and last name

  • your email address

  • your message, and anything you choose to include in it

Your name and email address are also saved as a contact in the site's contact list on Wix, so that I can keep track of our correspondence. Wix also sends me an email notification of each new message, including a PDF copy of it.

When you visit the site, your browser sends the technical information needed to load the pages, such as your IP address and details of your browser and device. Wix, which hosts the site, uses this information to deliver the pages and keep the site secure.

If you accept analytics cookies, Wix Analytics records how the site is used, such as which pages are visited. Wix Analytics collects this information only from visitors who accept.

I also use Google Search Console. It shows me aggregated information about how the site appears in Google search results; it does not place cookies on this site.

Please do not send sensitive information (for example, about your health) through the form.

3. How the information is used and the lawful basis

  • Replying to your enquiry and keeping a record of our correspondence (name, email address, message, contact list entry). Lawful basis: legitimate interests – responding to people who contact me and keeping track of our correspondence.

  • Discussing or arranging work with you as an individual (name, email address, message). Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract with you, and performing that contract if we work together.

  • Discussing or arranging work with a university, company or other organisation you represent (your name, work email address, message). Lawful basis: legitimate interests – communicating with organisations about possible or ongoing work through the people who act for them.

  • Protecting the contact form from spam (form submissions and technical details of the submission). Lawful basis: legitimate interests – keeping the form secure and usable.

  • Delivering the website and keeping it secure, including strictly necessary cookies (technical information). Lawful basis: legitimate interests – running a working, secure website.

  • Understanding how the site is used (visitor statistics). Lawful basis: consent, given through the cookie banner.

  • Recording your cookie choices (your choice and when you made it). Lawful basis: legitimate interests – being able to show which choices you made.

  • Responding to privacy requests and complaints (the information in your request). Lawful basis: legal obligation.

I do not send newsletters or marketing emails. Sending a message through the contact form does not add you to any mailing list.

Wix automatically checks form submissions for spam, including automated checks of the message text.

You can withdraw consent to analytics cookies at any time (section 7).

4. Who the information is shared with

I do not sell your personal information. I share it only with the service providers below, and where the law requires it.

  • Wix.com Ltd. hosts the site, stores form submissions, spam reports and the contact list, sends me email notifications of new messages, and provides visitor statistics if you accept analytics cookies. Wix acts as my processor under its Data Processing Agreement.

  • Usercentrics GmbH shows the cookie banner and records your cookie choices. Usercentrics acts as my processor.

  • Sentry provides application monitoring and error tracking. Wix lists Sentry as one of its sub-processors, and its scripts load on this site as part of the Wix platform.

  • Google (Gmail) is my email service. Form notifications, including the PDF copy of your message, are delivered to my Gmail account, and I reply from it. Google processes these emails under its own terms and privacy policy.

Wix publishes a list of its other sub-processors.

5. International transfers

Wix.com Ltd. is based in Israel, which the UK recognises as providing an adequate level of data protection. Wix states that it stores personal information in data centres in the United States and Ireland, and that for transfers to countries without an adequacy decision it uses Standard Contractual Clauses together with additional safeguards. Wix lists Sentry, which is based in the United States, as a sub-processor covered by Standard Contractual Clauses.

Usercentrics stores consent records with Google Cloud in data centres in Germany and Belgium.

My email account is a personal Gmail account provided by Google LLC, which is based in the United States. Emails I send and receive may therefore be processed outside the UK. Google states that it relies on UK adequacy regulations and on the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, under which Google LLC is certified, and uses Standard Contractual Clauses where required. Google explains this in its Legal frameworks for data transfers.

You can ask me for more information about these safeguards (section 1).

6. How long information is kept

  • For general enquiries that do not lead to work together, I keep the form submission and related contact record in Wix, together with the notification email, its PDF attachment and any subsequent correspondence in my Gmail account, for 12 months after our last correspondence. I review these records every three months and delete those that are more than 12 months old at that review, so a record may be kept for up to about 15 months.

  • Enquiries that lead to work together. Correspondence, agreements and project records are kept while the work continues and afterwards for as long as they may be needed to answer questions about the work or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Invoices and other records that tax law requires me to keep are kept for the period that law sets.

  • Records kept for another specific reason, such as a complaint or a privacy request, are kept for as long as needed to deal with that matter.

  • Messages flagged as spam. If Wix flags a submission as spam, it keeps it, with any attached files, in a separate spam folder and deletes it automatically after 30 days. This automatic deletion applies only to the spam report and its attachments.

  • Your cookie choices. The consent-policy cookie expires after 12 months; the Usercentrics browser storage remains until you clear it. Usercentrics deletes its own consent records automatically after 12 months.

  • Visitor statistics. These are held by Wix and shown to me as aggregated reports in my Wix dashboard. Wix determines how long these statistics are kept.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. This site also uses browser storage, which works in a similar way.

Always used – needed for the site to work, to keep it secure and to remember your cookie choices:

  • XSRF-TOKEN (Wix): security; helps detect fraudulent requests. Duration: session.

  • ssr-caching (Wix): helps pages load efficiently. Duration: up to 24 hours.

  • consent-policy (Wix): remembers your cookie choices. Duration: 12 months.

  • ucData and ucString (Usercentrics, browser storage): remember your cookie choices. Duration: until you clear your browser storage.

  • fedops.logger.sessionId (Wix, browser storage) and mpaSessionId (Wix, session storage): technical values set by the Wix platform. Duration: until you clear your browser storage, and until you close the tab, respectively.

Analytics – used only if you accept analytics cookies. Wix Analytics then records visitor statistics, such as which pages are visited.

bSession (Wix): Wix describes this cookie as used for system effectiveness measurement. Duration: 24 hours.

Whatever you choose, the Wix platform also loads technical scripts that monitor the site's performance and errors, including Sentry (section 4).

When you first visit, a banner lets you accept all cookies, deny non-essential cookies, or choose by category under "More Information". You can change your cookie preferences at any time using the ‘Cookie settings’ link in the footer of each page.

The site does not show advertisements and does not use advertising or social media tracking.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • access the personal information I hold about you

  • have inaccurate information corrected

  • have your information deleted

  • restrict how it is used

  • object to its use where I rely on legitimate interests

  • receive your information in a portable format, where applicable

  • withdraw consent at any time, where I rely on consent

These rights are subject to conditions and exceptions, so not every right applies in every situation.

To use any of these rights, email me at nazlialimen@gmail.com. I may need to confirm your identity. I will respond without undue delay and within one month of receiving your request. If your request is complex, or you have made several requests, I may extend this by up to two further months; if so, I will tell you within the first month and explain why.

9. Complaints and changes to this notice

Complaints. If you have a concern or complaint about how I have handled your personal information, you can contact me at nazlialimen@gmail.com. I will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and respond without undue delay.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

Changes. I may update this notice from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
